What are “Ali and Nino” Book Clubs reading this October?

The “Əli və Nino” Book Club, which promotes a culture of reading, has selected four intriguing books for October. The book club meetings, taking place on October 26 at the Crescent Mall branch, will provide readers with the opportunity to deeply engage with literature and discuss authors’ ideas and characters in meaningful ways.

The sessions will be held at different times throughout the day and will cover a variety of genres: a psychological novel by a local author, a socially critical work from contemporary American literature, as well as international bestsellers in satirical and fantasy genres.

Event Program:

11:30 – Barbara Kingsolver, Demon Copperhead
Awarded the Pulitzer Prize, this work artistically addresses social issues, poverty, struggle, and the harsh realities of life. Readers will discuss together the messages the book conveys about human destinies.

13:00 – Rebecca Kuang, Yellowface
One of the most talked-about contemporary novels, Yellowface satirically explores themes of authorship, identity, and cultural belonging. Rebecca Kuang encourages readers to reflect on both the visible and hidden aspects of literature.

14:30 – Mürşüd Mehdi, Evdəki yad
In this novel, the local author Mürşüd Mehdi presents family relationships, secrets, and alienation with a deep psychological tone. Readers will have the chance to meet the author in person and learn more about the book’s creation and concept.

16:30 – Michael Ende, The Neverending Story
A classic of the fantasy genre, this book offers an unforgettable journey for both children and adults. The Neverending Story inspires readers to believe in the power of imagination and courage, taking them on an adventure at the boundary between fantasy and reality.

By the end of the day, readers will explore diverse literary worlds and gain new perspectives through engaging discussions. Once again, the “Əli və Nino” Book Club provides a warm and creative environment for sharing and experiencing literature together.
