“Ali and Nino” Book Club: A Thought-Provoking Discussion on Yellowface
On June 15 at 12:30 PM, the “Ali and Nino” Book Club held its latest session at the Crescent Mall branch. This time, club members gathered to discuss Yellowface by R.F. Kuang, a bold and much-talked-about novel.
We were honored by the presence of His Excellency Fergus Auld, British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and His Excellency Manuel Montenegro, Brazilian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, who also took part in the discussion.
Participants explored the novel’s key themes — cultural appropriation, identity, and the darker side of the publishing industry. The session was rich with diverse perspectives, fostering a space for both critical thinking and warm conversation.
